Outsourced Project Executive
When organizations have a capital project and lack sufficient internal resources to efficiently manage the project, Blue Marble’s experienced construction management consultants deliver the project from concept to close out acting as the client's outsourced project executive.
The commercial risks of a single project can reduce revenue, defer other investments, consume critical resources, and impact profitability. Blue Marble has the breadth of experience and the depth of expertise to provide project executive services, whether our client is investing in a single project or managing an entire project portfolio.
From knowledge, applied experience and industry research we use ‘best practices,’ templates and tools that span the entire capital investment life cycle. By utilizing our best practice approaches for setting and managing project expectations, our clients minimize the typical project growth and improve or protect returns on investment. Meanwhile our clients can remain focused on their business and operational growth.
Our goal is to help our clients:
- Properly establish project expectations with project stakeholders, designers and contractors
- Deliver the project(s) in accordance with the business objectives
- Minimize cost and schedule delays, which are typically 20-30% for the industry

Execution
Setting and managing project expectations is the key to achieving a project’s business objective. Due to the dynamic nature of engineering and construction projects, cost and duration increases are frequent and can disrupt company operations and financial planning. Blue Marble’s consultants either advise or perform the following owner scopes of work to reduce inherent project risk:
- Bid preparation, review and selection
- Contract drafting, including provisions for risk sharing, change and delay notifications, change management, acceleration, and dispute resolution
- Cost, schedule and performance monitoring and validation
- Design evaluation and optimization
- Progress meeting attendance and facilitation
- Pay application/invoice review and audit
- Financial forecasting with cash flow and revenue projections
- Timely management of project change and other project disruption issues

- Party communication management
- Safety and environmental policy enforcement
Close-out
The last major phase of a project is close-out where the facility is commissioned and occupied by the owner. Blue Marble assists in ensuring that punchlist work is completed, finalizes the project accounting, and closes out the contracts. Creating a lessons learned database that captures the success factors and unforeseen issues during the project also completes the close-out process. Owners can then utilize the lessons learned documentation to improve best practice performance on upcoming projects.
